Exciting News and Agenda for Tuesday 9th March

There is plenty of exciting news coming our way in terms of local projects we are working on and here is a little update on what we are doing and how to get involved

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 9th March at 6 p.m. Agenda with Zoom link is at the bottom of this post.

Minutes from our last meeting can be found here:

Plastic Free Ruthin

Can you help us get plastic Free Status?

We are working hard to get Ruthin formal Plastic Free Community Status through Surfers Against Sewage and are very nearly there; to get past the last requirements we only need a few more community groups, churches or social enterprises to sign the plastic reduction pledge.

Download the image, edit with an app or print it to sign and send it to foe.ruthin@gmail.com

Please forward this message to leaders of groups mentioned above asking them to sign the pledge and return it to foe.ruthin@gmail.com

It’s enough to sign digitally, not necessary to print and sign, but if they’re also happy to send a picture holding the signed pledge that would be great πŸ™‚

Businesses who sign up to the scheme are entitled to display a Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Business Award; if your business would like to achieve the Award please email foe.ruthin@gmail.com for more information.

Refill Ruthin

Would you like to help reduce plastic water bottle use in our area?

We are working with Refill Cymru to help reduce the use of single use water bottles in our community. If you are a local business or community centre and would like to offer free tap water refills you can do so by signing up here: https://www.refill.org.uk/refill-wales-pledge/

If you need any assistance please email us and we can help talk you through this.

Volunteering

We run a number of events over the year, from litter picking, tree planting, Repair Cafes, engagement and wellbeing events.

Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer at any of our events once lockdown permits us to meet.

We are now in receipt of some litter picking equipment on loan from Keep Wales Tidy. If you would like to borrow any of our litter pickers and collect litter whilst on your socially distanced walk please let us know.

The Senedd elections are coming up on the 6th May 2021, If you are interested in finding out what our local MS candidates stand for in terms of our climate please get in touch.
